Paulie Malignaggi defends his WBA welterweight title against Adrien Broner

On June 22nd at the Barclays centre, Brooklyn, New York, Paulie Malignaggi will defend his WBA welterweight title against undefeated and WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner.

Now many boxing fans around the world feel that this will be easy work for Broner. However I beg to differ.

Watching Broner fight it is plain to see that he copies Floyd Mayweather's style, but his defence is nowhere near as good as Floyd's. You've just got to look at his fight with Daniel Ponce De Leon who tagged Broner pushing him back and making him feel uncomfortable at stages in the fight. Even a small guy like Gavin Rees in his last fight managed to tag Broner.

Looking at Adrien Broner's record, he hasn't fought anyone like Paulie Malignaggi. Malignaggi is a 2 weight world champion who has shared the ring with guys who are much faster and who hit much harder than Broner. Hatton, Khan and Cotto to name a few. So to think Broner is going to bring something different to the fight, that Malignaggi hasn't seen before, you'll be mistaken. Broner is fast, but is he as fast as Amir Khan? Broner hits hard as a lightweight, but will he hit as hard as Miguel Cotto? I don't think so.

Paulie Malignaggi has faster hands and is much bigger than both Daniel Ponce De Leon and Gavin Rees and Broner for me ain't bringing anything different to the table that Malignaggi hasn't seen before. Which is going to make this a great fight and a must watch for all boxing fans. That being said and with the Brooklyn crowd behind him I'm going with Paulie Malignaggi to win by a narrow points win.
